Products
Iowa Foam uses insulation products from "InsulGreen", "BioBased" and "EarthFoam". The foams come in three different foam densities, .5 lb open cell, 1 lb closed cell, and 2 lb closed cell foam for different applications. Iowa foam offers free quotes to customers and an energy analysis on options for insulation.
Foam Brands
BioBased is an award winning manufacturer and a marker of the soybean based foam insulation product. BioBased has revolutionized the construction industry by providing high quality insulation products to their customers. They are the second largest providers of foam insulation in the United States and the largest of the Bio foams. BioBased are located in Arkansas.

Earth Foam spray-in-place polyurethane foam insulation is 70 percent Bio based polyurethane. This specially developed product has excellent thermal and acoustical insulation product when applied by trained and certified installers. Earth Foam expands in the wall or the roof cavity to completely fill all spaces and therefore is a highly efficient seal against air infiltration, the number one source of energy loss. In a direct comparison to products using cellulose and fiberglass, Earth Foam provides superior quality and performance. It is equally ideal for use in both residential and commercial construction applications.

Foam Weights
.5 lb/cu ft. foam is open cell foam where tiny cells of the foam are not completely closed. They are broken and air fills all the "open" space inside the material. This makes the foam weaker and softer feeling than closed cell foam. One set of material will cover 15,000-18,000 board feet of area Open-cell foam has a R-value around 3.5 per inch and uses water as a blowing agent. This means in a 2x4 wall I would get a typical R-value between 12 and 13.
1 lb/cu ft and 2 lb/cu ft. are closed-cell foam and all of its tiny foam cells are closed and packed together. They are filled with a gas that helps the foam rise and expand and become a greater insulator. These cells can be formulated to obtain many characteristics, the most common being size and density. The higher the density the foam the, the heavier, or stronger it becomes. Closed-cell foam has an R-value of around 6.0 per inch. The advantage of closed cell foam compared to open cell foam includes its strength, higher R-value, and its greater resistance to the leakage of air and water. The disadvantage of closed cell foam is that it is denser, requires more material, and therefore, is more expensive.
